Hi! My name is Abi, and I established my own business, Grooms By Abi in 2020, and as a groomer we see these dogs far more than vets do. I was getting disheartened by the amount of dogs with dental issues, diseased mouths, loose teeth, and awful breath. It wasn’t that the owners didn’t care they just simply weren’t aware. These dogs were silently dealing with pain that was absolutely preventable with an early dental health routine, and I’m sure a lot of the owners would have done something years ago if someone had just shown them.

So, in 2023 I began offering teeth cleaning, the same year I decided to step back from grooming completely to focus on oral health properly. This led to me training as a canine oral health specialist and eventually becoming an educator for groomers and pet professionals who want to help these dogs in the same way I do.

I made a purposeful effort to understood not just what was happening the mouth but why, and how to actually help these dogs. Leading to a diploma in Canine Nutrition, having one to ones with dog trainers and behaviourist so I can understand the dog as a whole. Not forgetting the obsessive amount of reading and research.

My sessions aren’t just about a tool, I don’t market my service as an Ultrasonic teeth clean anymore because its far more than that. I assess, clean, and explain what’s happening within your dog’s mouth.

During my free time, I enjoy travelling around the UK (and more recently Europe) in our campervan with my husband and our animals, Louie, the lively Border Collie; Ruby, a crazy Toy Poodle who loves getting dirty in the mud, and Carlos the cat, who likes to be involved wherever possible.
