Many dogs don't enjoy having their teeth brushed at home, but they often tolerate ultrasonic teeth cleaning much better. The process is gentle, non-invasive, and completely silent, making it more comfortable for most dogs. Additionally, being experienced in canine behaviour and psychology allows me to effectively communicate with your dog, ensuring they remain calm and stress-free.

Do I stay with my dog or leave them with you?

Similar to a grooming appointment, you can trust us with your dogs care. We often find dogs tend to relax into the process more with owners not present and gives us chance to establish a relationship with your dog.

How often does my dog need sessions?

Accepted Answer

Every mouth is different, so there isn't a one size fits all answer. As a minimum, I recommend a top-up every 3-4 months. Some dogs may benefit from more frequent appointments depending on how quickly plaque builds up, their home care routine and other individual factors. I'll advise you on the most suitable schedule after assessing your dog's mouth and completing 1-2 sessions.

What happens during an initial session?

The first part of the appointment is spent helping your dog feel comfortable and using different training techniques to build up mouth handling duration. Once they are happy, I work to remove plaque using a combination of the ultrasonic toothbrush and dental tools before carrying out a thorough oral health check, assessing all areas of the mouth. At the end of the appointment, I'll explain my findings and you will leave with a personalised dental health record, an information leaflet and advice on caring for your dog's teeth at home in between appointments.

What does the service do?

Professional teeth cleaning works to reduce visible plaque on your dogs teeth, helping to lower bacteria within the mouth and improve oral hygiene. It is designed as a preventative treatment to help maintain good oral health. The longer plaque is left on teeth the more chance it has to cause damage to gums and surrounding structures, which is why it is important to catch it early.

When will I notice a difference?

Results can often be seen after the first session, depending on your dogs tolerance levels and amount of plaque present. Many owners notice cleaner teeth and fresher breath almost immediately, as removing plaque helps to reduce the harmful bacteria within the mouth.

Can all dogs have the treatment?

No. This treatment is a preventative treatment which works best when applied early and maintained regularly throughout your dog's life. If your dog has loose teeth, receding gums, significant inflammation or advanced periodontal disease, they may need a veterinary dental instead. Upon vet treatment, I can then help to maintain their oral health with regular cleaning.There are many factors that determine whether a dog is suitable for the treatment. Do I still need to brush my dog's teeth afterwards?

Yes. Brushing is the best way to prevent plaque from building up again. Professional teeth cleaning removes the plaque that's already there, but it doesn't stop new plaque from forming. Regular brushing at home, along with routine maintenance appointments, gives your dog the best chance of keeping a healthy mouth.
